My name is Janet Adduci and I am a contemporary painter with assemblage artist who lives in Carver, MA. My art is ever-changing and color focused, with objects incorporated on the canvas. My art represents many of my emotional experiences throughout my lifetime. I had always been a realistic in a painterly style artist and I always worked from life. Recently, I began painting with assemblage as a way of dealing with my family tragedies and grief. I wholeheartedly believe that creating art can help one process their grief.

I began painting with abstraction and assemblage upon the death of my mother in 2020. The events surrounding my mother’s death prompted me to begin painting for therapeutic purposes. I returned to making paintings but instead went a more abstract route continuing my color exploration as well as incorporating three dimensional objects. My first painting of this new series is titled, "Tree”. This consists of my mother’s costume jewelry.  While arranging the jewelry, and without realizing it, it combined to form a tree shape.  My mother was referred to by Tree Fran or simply Tree. I felt the need to express love and compassion through creating a work that was connected directly with my mother and was an homage to her memory.

I am always looking for new things to add to my paintings.  Mostly, objects of meaning or of importance are the best. I feel through my work I can breathe fresh air into an old object that someone else might think is worthless.

I grew up in an Irish immigrant household in which I was exposed to a culture that is seen in my earlier works of still life.  I often used Irish comfort foods and items of meaning from my childhood as subject matter in my paintings. In my earlier paintings, my intent was to create a sense of nostalgia of a time gone past along with color exploration.

I see the world as bright and bold. For me, color is everything! I plan to continue to explore new ways to show that in my work as well as continuing emotion-focused art for healing.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hartford, Hartford Art School & a Masters in Art Teaching with a concentration in painting,  from Bridgewater State University. I am also trained as a teacher, specializing in Art Education. I teach all ages in order to help them foster the same enthusiasm that I have for art.  I often hosts "Art Nights" in my home where friends can express their creativity without judgement or self-doubt.

I also enjoy photography and actively take pictures of all topics including portraiture.
